Running a small business feels a lot like baking—you start with a vision, adjust when things don’t go to plan, and somehow, through a mix of patience and chaos, create something worth sharing.
When I started Liv’s Baked Goodies, I knew I wanted to bring bold, balanced flavours to people who love great food as much as I do. But what I didn’t fully realise was just how much running a business would test me in ways I never expected. Being a woman in the food industry means navigating a world that often underestimates you, balancing creativity with logistics, and constantly proving that your ideas—however unconventional—deserve a place at the table.
Through it all, I’ve learned to trust my instincts, embrace the unexpected, and never settle for anything boring (flavours or otherwise). Some of my best recipes have come from moments of uncertainty, and I like to think the same applies to business. You tweak, you refine, and you keep going—because when you love what you do, it’s always worth it.
If you want to hear more about my journey—how I built Liv’s Baked Goodies, the challenges I’ve faced, and what keeps me going—you can listen to my story on this podcast episode by Kiosk N1C Stories.
